I have had a PS3 for the last 8 months which I have been using as my main gaming platform (used to be a PC gamer).

Yesterday I ordered the xbox 360 S.

I would like to ask those of you who have both consoles, which console you mainly use for the multi platform releases.

P.S. I do not want this thread to turn into a fanboy war :D

I get the console which the game will play better on, for 99% of the games that is the 360 but I did get FF13 on PS3

I prefer the 360 controller and xbox live to dual shock / psn too so it is usually a no brainer for me,

Same, incl. FFXIII.

Well, I have a PC, 360 and PS3.

Always had PC, had 360 for 2.5 years adn PS3 for about a year now.

Once I go the 360, my PC was neglected. 360 was just more fun. And the PS3 was initially just for exclusives.

Recently, bought a bunch of games on PC, and am finding I hate playing with keyboard and mouse now.

Also tried some games I played on console on PC such as Dead Space, and turns out playing with better graphics doesn't lead to me enjoying a game any more

Also, eventually got tired of paying for a live sub, as I often did not play MP games. So have been getting MP games on PS3.

So now, my platform of choice is as follows:

For MP - PS3

For console exclusive SP - probably 360, but I read up to find out about any major differences between console versions. E.g. Fallout 3 on 360 looked way better than PS3.

For total multiplatform games, I may pick up a SP game on PC if it is cheap and supports gamepads, otherwise will go for 360, then lastly PS3.

Was quite miffed recently as I got Mass Effect 1 on PC as the 360 version did have some performance issues, but doesn't have gamepad support! So will stick with 360 version.

I use my 360 mainly for everything other than of course PS3 exclusives. Generally, multi-platform games look a bit better on the 360 whereas first party games look unquestionably better on the PS3 (Killzone 2, Uncharted, GoW3 etc). I prefer the 360 controller as well and have more friends on Live.

Thanks everyone.

Interesting comments.

The general feeling seems to be that the 360 is the prefered choice for multi platform games.

I actually also prefer the 360 controller over the DS.

Looks like my PS3 will be relegated to 2nd place :p

PS3 for multiplats for me but this is simply because of mates. For me the difference between 99% of multiplats on either platform isn't enough to warrant choosing one or the other enless you're anal.

The choice is yours. Thats whats so great about owning both consoles.

Xbox games seem to do better online but as far as SP games goes, thats up to you.

Xbox almost always does better. Eurogamer.net does multiplatform face-offs every now and then where they compare games for both systems and it's nearly exclusively in favour of the 360 version.

It's not as bad as it used to be though, and nowadays people pick depending on what their friends have. Developers have taken great strides in ensuring their games reach parity, despite the vastly different hardware architectures shown under the hoods. The differences are increasingly becoming smaller and smaller.

I think there are more multiplatform games that look better on the xbox 360 than the other way around. There are a few multiplatform games from 2-3 years ago where the ps3 version isn't too good. There's isn't too much in it and to start comparing Xbox 360 vs PS3 versions, you are slipping back down the PC route. I save such thoughts for my PC, faster graphics cards etc etc. With the PS3, I switch it on, play a game. that's it.

The differences between multiplatform are often too minute to worry about unless a game clearly suffers low frame rates etc and the 360 version doesn't.
It's like red dead redemption runs at a lower resolution than on 360 but I cant really see the difference tbh looking at comparisons.

Just be sure to research properly before you decide which version but I agree normally it would seem the 360 version is better.

This year it seems like most of the MP stuff is going to have extra content on the PS3, for Example Mafia 2 has PS3 only mission DLC, Dead Space 2 has PS3 only bundle with Move version of Dead Space extraction, MOH comes with MOH frontlines included in special edition. I as a rule dont by multi plats on the 360 especially if it has MP, not going to pay £30-40 to do something i can do for free on the PS3.

it used to be ps3 all the way but since red dead redemption the the 360 is my multi platform of choice. i have more mates on xbox live and have to admit i do find it better than psn.

it's still just peer to peer mostly identical in that respect

Just go for the cheapest version of the game, now more often than not the differences are not even noticeable if were being really honest. Unlike the earlier multi platform releases which were noticeably inferior on the PS3.
