Firstly, I wasnt sure where to put this thread, Graphics cards, software, hardware? So sorry if it isnt in the right place.

Ok I havent posted in about a month, but I was wondering how to make a better multi screen setup. At the minute I have just the two screens. One is DVI and the other is VGA. I plan to have atleast 3 DVI moniors in the near future.

At the minute the screens act like just one big screen so if I full screen something it goes over both screens. Is there any software or simple way to have if there is a window in one screen it knows its in that screen so if you full screen it, it doesnt go over both screens? Sorry Im not the smartest with computers, I just mange to cope lol.

Also what graphics card should I go for? At the minute I have a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT. And im running XP Pirate, maybe that should be changed I dont know.

O and I play a lot of old school games like Broken Sword, Monkey Island, things like that. Is there anyway to get that to go on one screen without turning off the other screen? So I could play games and also keep windows up for emails, internet, etc?

Thanks.

If you fullscreen something and it stretches it accross both monitors - then I imagine that is annoying. I haven't used XP in a long while - so it may be a limitation of the OS, but I would first suggest you go into the Nvidia control centre and make sure that in the multi-monitor part "Dualview" is selected.

If you want three screens, they you will either want to add a second graphics card and run it independently - not great for gaming. Or replace your 8800GT with a modern card that handles 3 screens (like this one). However, you will also need a mini-displayport to DVI adapter for this for the third screen to work - since AMD's eyefinity technology requires one of the outputs to be displayport.

As for running games on one screen while still being able to use the other - try running them in "Borderless window" mode.

Thanks for your help. Will look into this when I get a free minute.
