I've got a built in phone in my car and wondering if any of the operators offered multi sims for one number. Hoping Vodafone do as want to leave crap O2 anyway
Vodafone used to do a 'multi-sim' where you could get 2 sims and then had to dial a *# number to switch between them. Not sure if it's still available though as I left vodafone due to them being useless at sorting out my new contract etc.
I looked into this for quite a while for my in car phone - no carrier does it and I ended up getting a PAYG sim for the car and re-directing my phone to it everytime I set car mode on my handheld - its the only way. Depending on the car you could also bypass the in car phone and just connect your phone via bluetooth (and probably retain most of the functionality - works in a Pug 407!)
Sorry, unhelpful I know, but I'm sure this is theoretically possible, because I remember my uncle had a carphone and sorted this out for himself. This was in Cyprus though, so not very helpful to you. I'd be surprised if not a single UK operator did this, but you might need a business contract rather than their normal ones. If not, then the easiest thing would be to set up your mobile to divert to your carphone "when unavailable" and then just switch it off every time you get in the car.
buy a bluetooth kit for your car or replace the headunit, i know its an added expense but sim cloning even if its your own wich is essentially what you need is illegal.
