multi task prob

hi there

when im playing an mp3 in win media player and then right click another file to add it to playlist, win media player pauses the song thats currently playing.
so just by bringing up the right click menu, before i even select 'add to play list' it pauses, the sound stops until i close the menu.
any ideas what could be going on? i have noticed some slow down in windows generally aswell, long pauses and little lock ups that last a couple of seconds, its only been the last week or so

any idea where to start looking?

windows media player was acting up on my pc as well a few weeks back, used to make the system lag sumthing terrible when i was playing music, i just swiched to winamp now everything is A ok
