Multi-Touch Mouse Patent!

This is quite interesting - would mean that you could do iPhone style pinching on the top of your mouse! would be quite useful in photoshop-esque environments! Although I would prefer to have a separate little A5 pad or something for it!

What do you guys think? Apple going to do this or just covering there bases with there inventions?

I'm liking that, as you say, may be better on a tablet, but I think it's a very clever idea

looks cool, would also be good to just stroke the top of your mouse to scroll, iPhone style. I'm still not over struck on my Wireless mighty mouse, it hasn't got great ergonomics, right click is a pain and the ball gets clogged up plus it's laggy. Hopefully they'll fix all that!

What would this mouse actually be useful for? I mean 5 button mice are standard these days and loads of programs use gestures. Seems apple are doing everything they can to stick to one button mice.

It would be a big gimmick, but don't get me wrong I bet once you used it it'd probably grow on you (iPhone style).

I think this is just Apple applying for patents, and possibly testing the technology for the "multitouch" computer they're supposedly working on

I was thinking the very same - apple tend to cover all bases when they have new tech.
