I've held off long enough and I now have the slowest PC in the house (except my 16Gb i7 laptop). My current PC from a long dead supplier will be confined to running Linux.
Looking to get a reasonable spec to run a few games (e.g. Elite Dangerous) but also some more esoteric stuff around neural network development (sitting on the GFX card)
.
Here's what I have so far (I can build it):

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus GeForce GTX 980 DirectCU II OC Strix 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £469.99
1 x Asus Rampage V Extreme Intel X99 (Socket 2011) DDR4 EATX Motherboard £329.99
1 x Intel 5820K 3.30GHz (Haswell-E) Socket LGA2011-V3 Processor - OEM (CM8064801548435) £299.99
1 x Corsair HX1200i 1200W '80 Plus Platinum' Digital Modular Power Supply (CP-9020070-UK) £184.99
1 x G.Skill Ripjaws 4 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Quad Channel Kit - Red (F4-3000C15Q-16GRR) £179.99
1 x Samsung 850 EVO Series mSATA 500GB SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive (MZ-M5E500BW) £172.99
1 x NZXT Switch 810 Ultra Tower Case - Matt Black £139.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro 64-Bit DVD - OEM (FQC-06949) £109.99
Total : £1,905.62 (includes shipping : £14.75 Ex.VAT).

Any glaring errors? It's a while since I built a system from scratch.
Would also like 32Gb but I don't see the right spec in stock right now hence the 16Gb.

What I haven't sorted out is the water cooling. Any suggestions?

What's your main use for the RIG, Gaming / Content creation or both?

For one the PSU can be changed with that setup 850W will be fine unless you plan on doing 3x or 4x SLI

Ok build is good then PSU is still overkill but its ok. 850W is more than enough for 980 SLI as its very efficient.

I was just about to update the SSD card as I had thought I'd selected the m.2 and just noticed I hadn't:). Thanks

Win 8.1 pro. Although I hate the front end of Win 8 (I've used Windows since Win 3.1) I'm forcing myself to take the medicine. As regards 'pro'......just one reason....I'm a geek with a Degree in Computer Science. :). There is an outside chance I may need/want some of the extra features even without a server in the house. Unlikely but it's only £35 more.
