multiboxing mmos, best CPU?

I usually multibox mmos, 6+ accounts normally and I sometimes run multiple VMware sessions.

I'm wondering what CPU would be best, common sense tells me the 8 core piledriver AMDs, but I'm tempted by the i5 3570 and i7 3770. The AMDs use a huge amount of power even at idle, which is putting me off.

Anyone got any experience and advice on this?
