My external monitor acts as a second screen for my iMac and as the primary screen for my PC. I have iMac connected to DVI and my PC to VGA, but annoyingly the Mac just assumes the monitor is on and extends the desktop. Is it possible to manually turn the external monitor off but to keep the cable plugged in?
