Multiplayer 4X games

Hi there.

Me and a friend likes these 4x games. But we have only play 2 decent games so far and that is startrek birth of the federation (despite the bugs) and civ 4.

We got space empires v but thats really weird with multiplayer and we cant get it to work even with hamachi.

So were hoping some of you here knows a good multiplayer 4x space game. Preferably with good ai and make ** own ships and a good combat system (maybe 3d but not vital).

If anyone knows ANY space 4x games with multiplayer. Let us know and we can check em out.

Ahh, never heard the term before.

Have you tried Homeworld 2? Can't quite remember if that has multiplayer or not.

I would try Galactic Civilizations, or perhaps the new expansion 'Dark Avatar'. GC is an awesome game, so fun and it seemed good in multiplayer.

It does have a multiplay, but tbh there are better RTS's out there. Homeworld kinda relies of the gimick of being able to fight in 3 planes, but being in space lacks any real idea of taking areas and using map layouts to your advantage.

In short i found it to be the best example of a harvesting race and then an end rush.

Ahhh aoe2, you brought up some memory's, used to be in a clan 3 or 4 years ago, was hooked on it like 5 hours every day aoe2 for about 2 years.

Were looking for turn based 4x games. Please keep this in mind when suggesting games. Not rts games like homeworld etc.

Alpha Centauri should be right up your street if you haven't played it.

Alpha centauri is a bit of a sci fi setting but more land based instead of galaxy based. Plus the gfx are very outdated. Thanks tho.

I used to love Masters of Orion 2. Not sure if it was multiplayer, though I think they made\are making Masters of Orion 3...

This looks ok, out this summer...

Is X3 multiplayer, with a mod or something?

There is a MOO3 tho its a bit dull

Sword of the Stars is a decent 4x game.
