Curious to see if anyone else stopped playing online FPS games on the pc due to proliferation of hacks available.

Takes all the fun outta the game for me. imo they will always exist....so rather than get annoyed or try to ignore it i just dont play fps games on the pc.

I notice Red orchestra 2 is on sale right now.. does this have cheat protection or stop hacks?

To be completely honest - I've not actually come across many hacks. I've come across one hacker in BF3 in around 100 hours. Same with Call of Duty 4 - That's apparently rife with hackers, but I've only come across one or two.
I don't know whether I'm extremely lucky or people seem to overreact when they encounter a single person hacking..

You are extremely lucky.

Stopped playing DayZ for a while because it was getting very annoying.
Also happened with CS back in the day. Normally the reason is because it just loses its fun or newer games just look prettier.
I just leave the server now, hopefully I haven't wasted too much of my free time when that happens.

I have only come across a handful of cheaters in bf3. They seem to stick to metro or the other tiny rubbish maps. Anyone with common sense would avoid these maps purely for the fact they arent battlefield.

As for RO2. Never once saw a cheater on it. But not that many people play it anymore. It can also be pretty rage inducing. Decent game though if you can get used to it.

Hacks are all around. You only have to do a quick check on Google to see all the pay sites that operate.

Except people are not using them in the same obvious way any more. They will use them to give them small advantages, like see-through-walls, or radar.

When people are cheating in games like War of The Roses (little known medieval melee combat game) then you can be assured it's many times worse for popular titles.

The only online FPS i really play is TF2 and i use the same servers all the time which boot hackers straight away.

Played a bit of Planetside 2 which seemed ok as well :)

Seen a few on mw2 when I used to play that a lot.

Other than that, games with servers I generally haven't seen anything. I find pc games it's more people 'accusing' someone of being a hacker because they're a sore loser.

I used to be really in to play multiplayer fps games, I seem to have got bored of them though. I sometimes play CSGO every now and then but thats it really. I don't really like FPS games anymore.

used to love playing competitive in leagues ladders and such but once you realize that a lot are just hacking in every way which and manner its pointless.

i was and have been a pbbans admin for long time and some of friends still are or people i know even work for pb and tbh its a joke.

cod 4 is the worst fps game hands down for cheats but it is the best fps still which is so annoying :( second is bf3 for hacks, you may not notice them but many nearly on the scale of cod 4 hack in bf3 its easy to notice even paid cheats once you know what to look for.

dayz isnt too bad on private servers now as long as you have well run servers with admins you can trust.

in dayz many use apps on phone now so you wont detect them anyway  also admins have tools who run servers and can see where you are what you have what loot is where everything basically on the map. apparently this is being sorted for standalone.

so best thing is to just either ignore and accept the cheats or just try to find the best adminned servers available.

one of the worst cheats recently has been aim assist mouse type drivers roccat and razer which a lot use in both bf3 and cod 4. a lot of pros used these and were caught but there are many variations still about.

Don't really come across it, even if I have I have not noticed it and it has not changed my enjoyment of any games.

Not something I have come across much.
BF3 only two that I can think of
CSGO not a single hacker since playing it
Dayz loads this because how open the game is to the player base though, the standalone will fixes this with moving to better servers etc

Hackers are everywhere and for most games hacks are very easy to come by. Most people who use hacks don't go crazy with it and try not to get noticed.

I can't say I have had much problems with them, but the people who really annoy me are the ones who are very obvious and just run around with impeccable accuracy, shooting players heads all over the place.

Yep it's true, tin foil hats are needed, they are out there they just dont use the hacks as you'd notice them :o
