Hi PC enthusiastics,

I am wondering if I find someone who doesn't say: "It's not gonna work".

The thing is I would really love to make a PC for multiplying VR games.

First I thought I would just buy one more GPU, connect each VR headset to each GPU and simply go ahead to enjoy playing.

I have read that you can connect VR headset right into GPU ports.
So I am thinking of connecting the first headset to the GPU which is not connected to the monitor. The second would be connected to the PC throught USBC.

Many are saying this is not about to work. I just don't see a reason why...
Another guestion is the monitor. Is one enough for playing multi?

Connecting a second one would be a solution and nice to have, right? Each GPU would be connected to each monitor. Just one headset would be connected to the GPU by another port.

Can you see guys this working well?

Thanks a lot for every problem you see and solutions will be appreciated.

Also, I already have 3060 12GB. If I want to have 2 GPU, must they be from the same chip maker? Or I could combine this NVidia chip with AMD one?

Thnx a lot.

For a start you would need two copies of any game you wanted to play. Any game with anticheat software you would need a mod to get it working with those games.

Like Trig said above, the only real way to do this is with VM's. You would have one VM using one GPU. But you would also need a really good CPU as you will to have split the resources there, as well as lots of Ram, because, yes you guessed it, that would have to split that too.

As for why it wouldn't work any other way. Think about controls. How you would you split the controls between each game that was running? There are other reasons too.

I think you might be confused about how VR headsets work that plug into USB. Even if they are plugged into a USB port, they still use the computer's GPU to run the game.

For VM's it doesn't matter if the GPUs are from two different manufacturers. But it's probably less of a headache if you use two from the same chip maker.

This is all possible, but it won't be a great experience, especially if playing VR games that are very sensitive to lag.

EDIT: Sorry, after thinking about this for a little while longer, I haven't stressed enough how good of a CPU you will need. VR is more CPU intensive than normal desktop gaming. The CPU will also have to run 2 VM's. And you would need a minimum of 32GB of Ram. Basically, it would be cheaper and easier just to buy a second PC. Even a second hand PC with slightly worse specs that your current PC would run VR games better than they would run on a VM.
Thnx a lot to all of you guys, especially to melmac. Thats exactly what I needed. First, I am not gonna worry about two copies of a game... Thats out of my expertise. I think I have read that some VR games do offer you simultaneously multiplayer choice.
I wanted to avoid having two MBs with 2 CPUs, 2 powersupplies as well as two sets of RAM as even having in the future 64 GB of RAMs, 7950x3d and was thinking about the second GPU, this would be much cheaper and I simply expected it all would be much easier as if you play multiplayer of a simple game, that is possible. So why not with VR I was thinking.

You were writing about controls. I guessed the VR headsets do the controls and having one of them connected right to he GPU and the other one to the other GPU via the USBC I expected each GPU takes over the controls.

But I guess I am gonna look for a second hand PC with a great "good enough" MB and simply tune it a little bit to avoid headaches :-D :-D

Anyway, thanks to all of you.
