Currently I have 2 mobile contracts.

1 x Business
1 x Personal

Ideally I want to merge the two. The business contract expires soon.

Obviously my business number is well known so switching it off would be suicide. However, I would like to end up with giving out just the one number.

Can I get the contract sim & number downgraded to PAYG and then get all calls forwarded to my personal mobile? If so are there costs involved?

Also, would it be possible to change the account my personal phone direct debits are taken from?

If you recommend doing something different then please say so :)

as far as i know, you cannot forward calls to a pay as you go number to another number except voice mail (i know this to be the case with o2). It makes sense as forwarded call that are forwarded on contracts work like this:

the call comes to yourphone1, if the forward is activated, yourphone1 effectively calls yourphone2 so as well as the cost for the person calling yourphone1 it costs you to call from yourphone1 to yourphone2 (or uses the "free mins").
