next week i intend to hook my Samsung LCD tv up to my 7800gtx as a second display for when im playing games, will running 2 monitors off a single card put too much strain on it when gameing? the card has 2 DVI outs but i dont want to risk damaging my card

i apologise if this is a stupid question but id like to be sure

Whats going to be displayed on the 2nd screen? If your going to try and split the game across both or play another game then no, it won't cope.

However if its just for web/DVD/msn/whatever then it will be fine.

(Two 1600x1200 CRTs here ;) )

i thought that if i wanted to play a game it would display on both screens no matter what  can i set it so the game is only deing displayed on my TV?

Hmm, TBH it be better if it was displayed on the monitor. TV TFTs have rubbish resolutions.

If the screens are mirrored then it would display on both, however it will to the resolution of eitehr screen. I think it takes the smallest resolution IIRC.

You can seperate screens tho, so you can game on one at fullscreen and have MSN displayed on the other.

CR.

Do you kniow what size his monitor is? A bit rash to jump to conclusion that the LCD has a lower res than his primary monitor (I would suggest anyway)

It could be a Sammy HD LCD in which case while not a stella resolution, 1366*768 is still pretty mesmerising for most games

Langlest, can you tell us what your monitor and TV are please so we can make a more reasoned appraisal

Cheers

True :)

i have a Hyundai ImageQuest Q995 monitor and a Samsung LE26R74BDX TV

my monitor can do 1600-1200 so its a lot higher than the tv (1366-768) but its mainly for the size & comfort of playing from the sofa instead of my desk :)

Yeah you should be fine playing on your Samsung Hd TV, it migh take a little fiddling to get the game running correctly at a decent speed but will be worth it

Your monitor will still be running desktop without a problem (msn / IE etc)
