I've just bought a Samsung LCD TV and as this has VGA input I'd like to have it connected to my PC to use as a monitor if I want it.

My graphics card is an nvidia FX5200 and has VGA and DVI, can I use both of those? I've got my normal computer monitor on VGA and using a DVI>VGA adapter got the TV on that.

When I go to the nvidia control panel I don't get the option to set up dual display as it only finds the monitor.

Any ideas?

thanks

Hello

Is it not detecting the Samsung LCD tv at all?

On my setup I had to fiddle around with which vga/dvi connector I plugged the "main" monitor in to, in order for it to display the monitors correctly so they would act independent.

I don't know if your card "definitely" supports dual screens, but I don't see why it wouldn't with the latest drivers on.

Can you not select "My display is not shown in the list" in a drop down menu or anything?

Someone else may be able to help on this part: You may have to setup the LCD TV to detect as a display itself on the OSD perhaps? Via the control panel buttons on the tv.

The TV works if I just plug it straight into the VGA on the graphics card. I'll try swapping the connections over so my main monitor is on the DVI adapter.

I do get the option to select 'my display is not shown in the list' but it doesn't change anything..

Ok, do you get anything like this?

You may have to boot up with one monitor plugged in, then add the second one while your in windows.

Yep that's the screen I get but it just has my HP monitor in the list and not the TV. I wonder if there's a problem with either my DVI adapter or the DVI port on the card as I just plugged my HP monitor into it and it didn't work either.
