Multiple HDDs in Corsair cases seems impossible

I'm putting together a build which has 2 HDDs and an SSD in a corsair 400q. Nice big case with what promised room for 2 hdds.. sounded great. However, how does anyone get a strip of sata power connectors into these drives and close the side? There's about 2cm of clearance there!

I've got a corsair 650d as well and it has the same problem (except I've only got ssds in it so I hadn't noticed). Is there some magic trick I'm missing or are corsair just assuming people don't use 3 5" drives anymore?!

Straight ones from an evga G3. I eventually managed it by sacrificing the middle connector, bending it off to the side and cable tying it in multiple places. I can see it working with those L types, but really it shouldn't be this difficult! Anyway, 20 or so cable ties later I've got the side back on without any dodgy bulges!

There is a concerning trend of 3.5" support being overlooked, or added as some token gesture without much thought going into it. Sure there's M.2 and SSD but price per GB is still very high. Not everyone can afford to go all SSD and/or has the room to have a separate NAS for storage, and need/prefer it all in one box. Compact midi-towers with 4 x 3.5" that don't affect CPU/GPU airflow would be very attractive to me.

Maybe time to stop buying corsair cases? I can put like 10 3.5" drives in my Antec P100 no problem with loads of clearance.
Antec still understand the need for 3.5" mech HDD's and this is why we have never moved away from supporting these drives properly.

If I'd been fully aware problem on my 650D I'd not have gone for this one. This was for a fairly simple build for my dad so I didn't do a huge amount of research on clearances for HDDs - the spec states it has the space so I didn't question it. When you read/watch reviews they never seem to mention this kind of stuff. I won't be buying another Corsair case either way. The couple of Antec cases I've done builds in have been fine and tbh I wish I'd gone for the P100 now, but it's a bit late.

Have you tried contacting corsair about this issue?

They should help you come up with a solution.

I will drop them a message and ask what they suggest (aside from buying additional cable adapters or using hundreds of cable ties).

Don't look reviews for text but primarily for pictures.
Because texts are mostly about obvious things, just fashion stuff or plain lies...

Like "sound dampening" in some cases, using that few millimeters thick barely denser than air foam which does absolutely nothing significant.
Unlike bitumen etc mass damping or multilayer panels of Antec.
Even by itself acoustically worser aluminum becomes lot better than still heavier steel when mass damped.

Corsair has introduced rather bad fashions.
Like all black PSU cabling which is horrible for quick testing: No green to black jumpstarting, no quick voltage finding.
