Multiple Monitors?

Hi guys, i just purchased a 21" monitor and would like to use it as my main monitor with my 17" next to it running msn/tutorials and such.

Now i have found that i can do this using a span method, which stretches the desktop across the two screens but this lowers the resolution to 2580*1024

Whereas i would like two seperate resolutions on each monitor, one at 1800*1440 and the other at 1024*768, possible running a virtual desktop.

Can any of you genius's help me with a way to do this?

i just tried updating all drivers for both monitors, no difference.

One thing i have noticed is that display manager only shows 1 monitor as an option, whereas the nvidia display manager shows 2 usable monitors which can be spanned (at a crap resoultion (1280*1024)

Ultramon is a great program.
Go to Windows' display properties. On the Settings tab make sure you see shapes of both monitors, then click monitor 2 and tick the box "Extend my Windows desktop to this monitor".

Thats the problem, i only see one monitor in the display properties. But for some reason i see two in NVidias monitor management POS

Right, for anyone else that has this problem, ive managed to fix this.

Turned out a reinstall of all nvidia drivers were in order for some reason.

Thanks to those who tried to help!
