My Sky router is downstairs but the signal in our study upstairs is not wonderful.
I solved the problem by plugging the Sky router into a Devolo homeplug and in the study plugged a Netgear access point to a second homeplug.
This worked very well for both our PC's in the study and gave good coverage for other wireless users upstairs.
However, it wasn't very good for my gaming so I got a cheap devolo homeplug from the bay to try a wired connection , plugged it in to another socket and to my pc and nothing happened,no signal.
Thinking I'd bought a duffer I bought another same unit on the High Street but also no go!
When I plug one of the original homeplugs to my pc I get a perfect wired connection!
I used the Devolo software which has an app called "informer". When I used my 2 original Devolo plugs it showed 2 MAC addresses ( I assume these to be both original homeplugs)
but when plugging in the 2 new ones only 1 MAC address showed.
Do new homeplugs need some kind of MAC configuration to let them work in an existing network?
Oh, and now my wifes pc connects perfectly to the AP but not mine!
