Multiple PSU failures

I seem to have a weird annoying issue with PSU's failing and i'm starting to wonder if it's something i'm doing wrong. Since August 2008 when I built my PC i've had 3 PSU's fail, all lasting roughly a few months each. I am now on my 4th.

What i'd like to know is has anyone else experienced this kind of problem? and did you find a cause? or can it really be just a case of plain bad luck? What kind or checks should i be doing to rule out all other possibilities?

Any advice appreciated.

i've never heard of a case like this. but personally i would try a different socket. pay attention to the hardware inside the case, check if you can find any stain marks on your motherboard, gpu or other pieces.?

what PSU are you using?

i've tried different sockets and also use surge protection, i doubt it's anything to do with that anyway as i never had problems with previous PC's on same socket. Also checked motherboard and found no marks anywhere, capacitors look all good. I'm really confused.

The first PSU was a Corsair HX620, the 2nd another HX620. Then when that died I changed to BeQuiet 650 which eventually died and now i'm on my second BeQuiet 650. Both have excellent reviews which is even more confusing.

especially if its a £10 1000W power supply! Those are the killers.

Let us know what hardware you have in your PC as well, so we can tell if you're using the right power rating.

Hardware is..

P5Q pro board
E8500
HD4850
Xfi sound card
3 samsung F1 HDD's
DVDRW drive
PCI wireless card
