Currently I have my 48" OLED with a 27" in portrait next to it and my sound bar under the OLED.

If I swap over to speakers would it be better to put a speaker between the 48" and the 27" or put the speakers either side of both monitors?

Wall mounting is not an option as a window is in they way.

Thoughts?

This is probably going to be personal preferance and based on your use case. If the speakers are just for general sound and maybe some YT then either side of the monitors would be fine.
But if you are watching movies and TV shows or using for gaming then a more optimal position would be better.
I have a similar setup with a 48" OLED with a 27" on the left (landscape) and laptop to the right. I opted to use the built in speakers for general use and headphones for gaming.

From an 'audio' perspective you're better having it either side of the main screen that you'll be looking at, so in between the OLED and the 27". Can you put it on the outside of both screens, yes, you could even play around with some audio levels to 'balance' them out a bit better if you have the options in your sound controls. Would you realistically be able to tell the difference, not unless you're an audiophile imo.

Honest question though... why are you thinking of swapping to speakers? Unless you're paying decent money the sound bar likely won't sound much worse than speakers.
