Hi folks

Just started a new job and it requires the use of a few websites, trouble is its IE so no tabs. Asked about alternative browsers and the answer was no.

Was going to try and come up with a site i can use myself that allows me to load another site within IE (thinking of iframes) but allow me to use multiple sites and hold the state i left the previous one when i went to another. Could i make use of iframes, and javascript to achieve a tab like effect? I appreciate iframes isnt part of XHTML (strict).

Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

David

Tell them that Firefox is a hell of a lot safer than Internet Explorer, and it would save you a lot of time just using it rather than coding a function that would allow multiple sites in one window. Of course not in those words. :) Do you know why they only want to use Internet Explorer?

Simple frames wouldnt hold the state of the window if i moved to another. IE7Beta has tabs yeah. Will try asking again as it seems iframes are for pages on same domain only?

If you are able to, try slipping the MSN Search Toolbar on there, which includes tabbed browsing support. If you have to explain yourself to your boss, claim it increases productivity, and shouldn't cause any issues as it's made by the same people who made the browser in the first place.

If you're feeling a bit more daring, you could have a look at Foxie, which adds a number of features to Internet Explorer, including tabbed browsing.

A quick Google doesn't reveal any existing online solutions, but I'm sure it's possible...
