Multiplier being reduced :/

Hi all,

I'm currently trying to overclock my C2D with my new motherboard.

Specs are:
C2D E6420
Giga p35-DS3P
2 x 1 GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800

My problem is this, I've increased V-core to 1.425 and the RAM to 2.00 and am working my way up on the overclock.

I set the FSB to 333 and the multiplier to 8 (8 is max) which should give me a 2.66Ghz overclock from 2.13Ghz stock.

No matter what I do though in CPU-Z and Everest the clock is showing as 1.998Ghz and the multiplier as 6x.

Every now and then though the multiplier flickers to 8x and the 2.66Ghz clock speed flashes on for a second, 'My Computer' properties tab always shows 2.66Ghz though.

This is my first attempt at overclocking really, and I'm massively confused as to why the multiplier isn't sticking.

Any help would be great, thanks :)

Some times these are labeld CE1 (can't remember or simular) and EIST,
If your running Vista check your power settings in control panel.

Thanks for the responses it's sorted now :D

Just like you said, in Bios I found CE1 and EIST and both were enabled, so disabled now :)

Now to try and find my highest stable O/C.

Thanks again!
