Hi,

Got the follwing arriving tomorrow from OcUK:

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 "LGA775 Allendale" 2.13GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Enermax Liberty 500W ELT500AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)

and as the last time I updated my CPU was about 3 years ago I cannot remember what multipliers to use and expect it to be different for C2D CPUs?

Could some one let me kmow what multiplier to use to save me a bit of time? And any other settings I should apply.

Cheers

Get the e4300 instead (9x multiplier) and overclock it to 3ghz easily.

The E4300 is the inferior chip over the 6 series C2D.

Thats bad advice

And why is that? He will save money and it can be overclocked to 3ghz easily due to its 9x multiplier.

e4300 and e6400 both have 2 MB caches.

If he has a decent budget, he should get the e6600 and hope to overclock it to 3.6ghz, like I have done. :)

Anyway, doesn't matter, he already has the e6400 ordered. :)

sorry thats just really bad advice.....the e4300 require more volts to reach 3.0GHz+ and consequently produce more heat.

I agree sorry that is bad advice, the only reason to get an E4300 is if your on a budget. And -

Does that not kinda say he has already placed his order

Anyway, lets get the thread back on track instead of arguing over chips, the multi is 8x. I have exactly the same setup running at 3.2ghz (400 x 8), could probably push it further. People, like minstadave, have had 3.6 with 450 x 8.

So just experiment, there are plenty of guides on how to overclock the c2ds, I will post one later though if nobody else does.

Hope this helps
