I currently have my Q6600 at 3.51ghz 390x9 though my ideal goal is 450x8 to get 1:1 with my RAM, however when I change multi to x8 in BIOS when I boot into windows CPU-Z stills ays x9 and 4050mhz (450x9) which is unstable and crashes like 2 min afterwards.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? BIOS is latest.. Board is MSI P7N SLI Platinum (750i)

When reboot does the motherboard still state the multplier as 8 in the BIOS or does it revert back to 9.

Another option if you have not already done so, put the multplier to 8 but drop the fsb to 300 and see what happens or you may need extra voltage!

It retains the 8x in the BIOS, but windows and CPU-Z reads it as x9, and it definitely is x9 because its unstable as hell at 4ghz. :s I'll try 300x8 tomorrow about to call it a day~

Well putting 300x8 registered as 2.4ghz, so I tried 350x8 2.8ghz, and it just went back to 9x (3.05ghz) in windows :\?
