Hey, does anyone know whether there is a decent wireless headset primarily for gaming (in 5.1/7.1) but which is also good for music/films etc and has a removable/retractable mic on the market? I don't want the mic getting in the way when I don't need it. I'd also like it to be pretty understated (no silly colours/styling etc).

Your best bet for that use is an Astro mixamp 5.8

I use one and its perfect, you supply your own headphones and it turns any optical source into 5/7.1 surround using Dolby Headphone virtual surround.

It is pricey though and you havent given a budget. - Mixamp is £105 and headphones are as much as you are wiling to pay. I went with some Beyerdynamic DT990 (£120) and a clipon mic (£5) so in total it was £230. Well worth every penny IMO.

Having looked at the Astro, I'm a bit put of by still having the cables from the headset dangling around. Doesn't it kind of undermine the point of going wireless?

The clip on mic sounds interesting if they could be found wireless, since they could be attached to a non-miced set of wireless headphones. Unfortunately I can't seem to find anything like that online.

I don't want to spend more than £150 really.

I think I may just have to deal with the mic and buy some G930s. It looks like you can at least shove the mic out of the way into the vertical position if not in use.
