Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Looks like a decent upgrade to the Neo. Just a shame they didn't put a slightly bigger battery in it, looks like they had the space for it.

Don't think it'll make me upgrade from the Neo though. I can pop the neo in my pocket. This looks like it'll be too big for that.

Is anyone able to help with these new regulations coming in?

Have a Dji Mini 4k and have a operator ID and passed the flyer ID last year (believe this was optional as drone is sub 250g)

I believe if I keep up my operator ID I can fly the 4k without change to the end of 2026 but then I'll need to buy an additional device to broadcast an ID while flying but this will then make the drone heavier changing the class it's in as it will be over 250g?

If so it's a bit annoying they've pulled the rug on the the 'legacy' sub 250g class that many people would have bought to stay within the law in an easier fashion!

Technically, yes. In practise, I suggest 99% of sub 250g drone flyers won’t know, care, or bother.

To be honest, as a Mini 2 owner I'm aware of the rules coming soon, but I don't really care and probably won't bother. I will enjoy my Mini 2 and it's freedom for as long I can, but I don't think I'll bother with another drone after this.

I've got three or four friends with various versions of the DJI Mini, not one of them cares about any regulations, they just bought them and fly them.
