Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

4k and Lighbridge, it wasn't going to be cheap. Not sure who this is aimed at anymore. 4 rotors are not enough for pro work (payload, stability, duration) and it's far more expensive than "hobbyist" Phantoms of old... There is obviously enough people out there ready to blow £2k+ on a flying digital camera which is a bit better than their last one.

How long til we see Inspire crash compilations on youtube? :p

Probably won't see many crashing, being DJI they tend to just fly away and are never seen again thus losing all the crash footage. :D

Fancy getting into this but need to start some-where, want to basicly take photos and record.

Been looking at the Drone 2.0 by Parrot, can any-one confirm this to be any good or not, I also want to make use of a GoPro and have seen this being attached with a bit of fiddling.

Not sure about that Inspire, seems very clever with a lot of good features, but I can see more fly aways happening with that GPS returning home based on your phone's location. Just one more thing to go wrong.

All I can think of is a broken connection inside either the tx or rx module. You usually can't see the positive centre pin connection too well unless you desolder/remove the heat spreader on the tx or uncase the rx. Might be worth a look, I had to do similar surgery on my tx after a nasty bottom first crash. All it took was a dab of solder to fill a crack/gap in the positive pin

E: not wanting to sound patronising but you have double checked that the antenna are RP-SMA?

So i hooked up the wireless setup to my sammy tv in the lounge and no black pauses. Looks like i'm getting a black "blue screen" with the 7 inch one. The tv had static but no dropouts whatsoever. Looks like i need a new screen or a way to carry the 40" tv round everywhere hahaha.

Also... anyone else think the designer for the inspire worked for valve for a while? :p

Think I've managed to brick my Zenmuse H3-3D Gimbal :(

Have tried the jumper shorting reset and reinstalling the firmware with the Assistant software but to no avail - looks like a repair job! :/

Does anyone have a recommendation for a fairly decent price fpv camera for a 250 quad. Was looking at the little sony 700tvl jobbies.

I picked up a 600tvl sony after reading that it was one of the best, Still have to fit it yet.

After a slight accident which destroyed my dirty plate I have finally got round to making a new one out of aluminium and everything is back as it should be, batteries charged ready to go tomorrow..."please don't rain" :D

^^ It's an excellent cam assuming it's the real deal. When you test it, turn the lights off and see if it instantly switches over to black and white

Guys I need some advice.

My wife is still asking me for xmas gift ideas and I'd like a 250 sized quad. Ideally I'd like to build one myself but asking her to get all the components is making life very difficult.

Is there a 250 quad or kit which is complete-ish? I'd like to mount an FPV cam on it eventually and give that a go so something with a bit of grunt, but I have no idea what to look for.

Help!

Did some Christmas shopping yesterday and popped into Maplins and picked up a Hubsan Q4. Little bit of fun. Great thing. Although reading the reviews about it I think I got a lucky box as mine came with 4 packs of extra blades (4 in a bag) so giving me 20 blades in total.

Flies great. Slowly getting used to it. Before moving onto something a bit bigger but not too expensive.

Any recommendations?

PS: I already fly RC planes and Heli's for the last 14 years so have lots of equipment including 35mhz and 2.4 TX.

Any 250 sized frame, simonk esc's (i use afro 12a ones), motors (i use emax 2204) and a flight controller (kk2.1.5 for me) will get you airborne if you already have the transmitter etc. All my kit can be had for around £80 if you shop around.

Once you have the basic quad sorted you can slowly start adding things like an fpv cam and a screen/goggles to it later.
