Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

DJI Zenmuse H3-3D Gimbal has arrived. Best bit is, I'v not signed or paid for it....

First inside test "flight" - not much room but all appears ok.

Auto level on - still a bit of drift which is to be expected before I try the myriad of settings to stop the drift.

It will drift a bit anyway. Especially when it's that low to the ground and sitting in it's own prop-wash.

All of the controllers that don't use GPS need constant input to keep them in place, to a degree.

As long as it's not constantly drifting in one direction, then it's probably a balance/trim issue.

250 is mostly assembled now, just got to wait for my ubec to arrive before I can get it flying. Forgot to check when I ordered the ESC's if the had a BEC

Hoping it arrives tomorrow

You may find that you're overweight with two of those. My F550 really struggled when I ran parallel batteries so I eventually settled for a single 5000mAh. I was using the older motors and ESCs though. I had to run 10" props which made the motors rather hot.
With a single 5000 I was OK on 9" and my flight times weren't much lower as I was flying within the sweet spot of the motors' efficiency.

Howler, shorten those wires man. There's got to be 10g of excess there.

Chatting with some guys on a F550 group and a lot of them run this on the E300 with no issues.

Got the 250 flying today, only a brief test in the back garden. Feels pretty lively, looking forward to a calm day where I can stretch it's legs a bit

Got my FPV gear ordered for my F550 - will see if it turns up this week!

Gone for a screen that I'll initially mount to my Futaba T8J but might end up with the screen on a stand ... will have to test it out and see!

Looks like the first batch of Inspire 1s are shipping. With any luck I might get mine before the new year then. Will just have to see if Build Your Own Drone actually got any in the first shipment from DJI.

Really impressed with how they've been adding features to the app before shipment. We now have adjustable expo on the sticks, single operator pan and tilt by dragging a finger on the iPad screen, and many more options for mapping the sliders and buttons to things. It looks really, really polished.

If it turns out as good as I hope, then the Phantom 2 will be going on the bay for sure. If the image quality stacks up I may end up selling the S800 EVO too. Unlikely though as it's only a GoPro sized sensor and so won't stack up to the u4/3 sensor in my Nex5. If I flog the Phantom 2 though I'll be able to afford a LightBridge which will cut down on the crap I have to carry with me.

Seeing a lot of Phantom's show already on eBay. Inbox what the setup is you'll be departing with. Might be interested if not a friend will be.

Lot of dislike over the shipping delays I've seen
