Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

The more videos I watch on 250 size racing quads the more tempted I am to get 1

Can these be used with 3s 5500 mah lipo?

Bit heavy to be honest, you will need something more like 1300-1500mah 35c 3 or 4s. They're not expensive though (£10ish) and you should get 5 or 6 minutes of hooning around off a battery, more if you're just cruising.

If you've already got FPV stuff, there are cheap kits on banggood and aliexpress for less than £150........

seen 1 I like everything apart apart from radio gear for £89 I am going invest in a bigger monitor though I would like goggles but my eyesight is as about as good as Mr Maggoo without my glasses

Any other sites you can recommend for quad gear that's uk based I got highly stung from customs using hobbyking

Yeh they are pretty cheap, bonus is they dont take massive amount of time to charge.

I am looking at FPV antennas, I was going to go for some decent ones that someone selling for 30 quid but I can gaurentee its not going to last long, so instead I think I am going to go for the spironet mushroom sort as these are apparently good range and durable? durable being the main point here.

I'm going to have to get a RP-SMA converter though as ideally I want to use this with my fatshark VTX also.

my VTX on the 250 is using RP-SMA (Eachine 200mw) where as my fatshark headset is SMA (250mw) I also have a 250mw fatshark vtx

Quick video from yesterday, nothing special, although you can see the differences in my flips etc they use to be much slower, but now as I have increased the rate wham, nice flip :)

I still have more to do to get the wobble out.

Might be worth having a look at either the headplay or quanum v2 goggles - both will let you wear glasses. The quanums (sp?) are only about £50 from HK and they had them in stock at the UK warehouse. In fact, the UK warehouse stock most bits for a 250 now.

Failing that, makeitbuildit are very good.

Have a look at these antennas Lifetime guarantee. I've got a set and they are very good. Not quite up to the IBcrazy bluebeam ones but much more sturdy!

Try adding some TPA if you haven't already, that should help with the vibes although you might want to reduce P as well :)

Cant think what that store is, iv always used hobbyking but its a pain waiting for stuff to come back in to stock.

The last batteries I purchased were for my bixler 2 however I got them from Giantshark which were having a sale as they were closing down. They wont have any more stock though

^^ Brave flying over water!

If anyone was thinking of getting into 250 sized quads, this kit is pretty good value, has great quality components, proper carbon fibre, thick arms, PDB, FPV camera and rx. All you'd need would be batteries, a tx/rx (flysky fs i6?) and some quanum goggles/video rx and you'd be set. All in for around £250?

Also,

Don't buy turnigy branded lipos from anywhere other than HK. I've seen some horrendous markups on the HK prices. I'm all for supporting indie retailers but why would I pay 50% extra for batteries to save on an extra delivery charge?

FAO Rilot - Have you had a chance to try the head-plays yet? I've been hearing some pretty good things about the quanum V2 so I'm also tempted to try those!

gandhi

It flew great..its really no different than it falling out of the sky into a feild you will just be picking up pieces instead of a total loss (Depending on height of course)

I've priced everything up apart from batteries to the tune of £150 that's frame motors ecs a devo reciever I've got the quanum goggles came as a full fpv kit for £65 with delivery and customs worked out a little over 100

I'm just using the goggles as a screen works fairly well For a 4 inch screen not great if you wear glasses as goggles tho I'm going mod them soon so they go over my glasses

Rebuilt my 250 for probably the 15th time, this time added some 3D printed parts (would have preferred red but didn't have any) and moved the D4R-II between the plates. Getting a bit on the heavy side so will be interested to see how it feels and how long I get out the batteries, will find out tomorrow.
