Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

To be fair you can buy a new F450 E310 system for £130.

My last F450 E300 with a Naza Lite I bought for £150 delivered.

Where you happy with the final price it sold for

Hang on. You've a buyer wanting to cancel the auction. I'd tell them no and demand payment

Iv cancelled the order, no fees and selling to someone on another forum for £120 shipped, the ebay guy was from Hungary

With regards to fpv there are cheaper ways to do things. Ie you can get some decent cheap vtx, don't have to go for top of the range, I have a fatshark vtx that came with my kit and also a £15 jobby. The goggles depends if you want to go down goggles fatshark route, the hobbyking kits or a screen with receiver built in.

It can be done without spending hundreds though

Not had much luck have you dude.

I'm up feeding my daughter (she's 7 weeks old) and scanning eBay for stuff ending. Just blaged a ImmersionRC 25Mw 5.8 VTX with LHCP Spironet for £20 delivered.

That'll be added to my ground station as a repeater for anyone using googles and wanting to look at my flight

Hey guys any comments on this, or any other very cheap FPS. I don't know if I would get in to it, or just a passing fancy. So don't really want to spend hundreds.

I have a smaller quad that is made by the same company. It's OK for a laugh. Flies well and the FPV is OK (although the camera has a very narrow field of view).
I'd say it's fine at that price.

Drones Direct have an offer with the DJI Phantom 3 - Professional Edition + Free 8 Inch Tablet & Hardshell Backpack for £1159 does that sound good, anyone used them before.

Hey Jase,

I've posted in this thread a while back before I even worked at Drones Direct but I'm actually the Marketing lead for the site now! did you end up getting one from us or not? (purely out of interest lol, I don't want to get banned)

Suppose it goes for anyone looking at a Phantom 3, especially with the recent price drop, some of the prices now are really great and it's so tempting every day but I think I'll just stick with my X4 haha. I don't think I'd get enough use out of one.

For the record, we are the only site doing free Tablets with the Advanced or Professional. Other retailers are kicking off to DJI about it because they don't want to try compete. It's a pretty decent tablet too but I thought whats that one extra (other than a battery as DJI are really picky about extra branded accessories) that someone buying a drone will need? Seems pretty logical to include something useful rather than some crappy accessory thats only there as an incentive and not really useful.

If anyone has any questions let us know, no marketing guff or sales crap either. This is just pure coincidence that someone mentioned the site and I usually just lurk this thread for the pictures of peoples builds!

Cheers anyway!

Did a quick and dirty range test today with my EZUHF setup.

4s Lipo, 5V 3A UBEC, RX, JR 591 on a bit of MDF. RX Antenna in V

I sent this off with the misses too do the school run which look out over a valley. Using Google Map and knowing a spot where I've flown before and able to see the school it said 10 miles away.

Called her and could hear the servo moving as I wiggled the sticks. She was impressed

Still in two minds on what to do with the remaining DJI F450 kit I have to sell

Split it or sell it as a kit, what are the chances of me making more than what I was going to sell it as a kit, now? I dont really want to wait until the summer when people are crashing, im listing the auction as no returns, tested prior to disassemble,

if I sell it as a kit there is a statement saying buyers responsibility to research on how to build, no returns due to build error?

People have made me paranoid with selling this now :p

Can anyone recommend a pretty basic, cheap one of these for an 18 year old's birthday? Price is no more than 50 and preferably lower, can you get one for that price that does the first person view thing? Also small enough to fly mostly indoors probably.

I know nothing about this and from the googling I've done the price and options seem mental.

Anyone help me out? Thanks

X4 Hubsan maybe? About the size of your palm so ideal for indoor use and you can get blade guards to protect you and your walls/anything else in room ha. Good for beginners but don't let that put you off as they are still good fun and not as easy to fly as they look. Doesn't do FPV though. I bought my dad one for Christmas last year but ended up using it more than he did:p

I'd probably recommend the Hubsan X4 just because of how great they are and the availability of spares. If not I know where I work do an FPV drone called the ProFlight Viper for just over £50 if you are dead set on FPV. I'll leave it at that as I don't want to get done for self promoting. I bet most of the guys on here would recommend the X4 though, it has a solid reputation. I was out flying mine in the snow on Saturday, great fun. :D

Didn't even realize OCUK are doing DJI stuff now. They must have bought from a supplier and not from DJI as they still have the old prices live on the site which is poop for them as I doubt they will be able to sell them at those prices now :(.

Ok guys. So, as expected after enjoying learning about and then building a quad, its ended up in a box in a cupboard gathering dust :(.

I've realised that I just don't have the skills or patience to spend large amount of time tuning the craft, plus because I don't have any other benchmarks to compare to, I don't have any idea if my craft is handling well or awful. I've no idea what a really good quad flys like, I've only ever flown one, mine.

But I want to try again. So, whats the simplest, easiest, out of the box and it "just works" control board setup? I've got a KK2 and while I like the screen and the ease of tuning, I litterally have no idea what I'm doing, and have spent hours and hours and batteries and batteries flying around my garden getting more and more frustrated by it just always feeling "meh". I'm prepared to invest a bit of money in getting it flying, but ultimately I expect any home built craft is always going to require more time/tinkering than I have the patience for.

Basically, is there a super easy control board/firmware out there that makes any self build fly great, or should I leave my quad in a box? Quads like the Vortex 250 Pro make me think that If I want to fly well, I really should just buy a pre built, pre tuned quad. But I can't splurge more money.
