Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Im using the Nvidia Shield tablet with my P3P. It works really well, but only downside is you need a sun shield when in bright light.

You should be able to get the K1 for around £150.

Does the Shield K1 have GPS built in? Can you use the IOC 'Follow Me' mode with your P3P connected up to your shield?

Mine is the original Shield tablet which does have GPS. I believe the K1 is the same but doesnt have the stylus & charger.

I have 3 paid apps that all have follow me. I briefly tried one of them that kinda worked. I didnt set it up properly and the P3 followed on and off.

The apps I use/have are DJI Go, Ultimate Flight, Litchi & Vertical. The last 3 have 'follow me' mode.

Cheers, appreciate the info. DJI Go has follow me mode too, as well as your last three listed? The Shield seems to get rave reviews for working very well with the P3, especially the video live feed. I guess it must be down to its graphics capability.

I don't think Go has follow me but I'll check over the weekend.

The shield is probably the best Android device for Go etc.

Go definitely has follow me mode m8, I've used it on several occasions. The IOC modes in Go are Home Lock, Course Lock, Follow Me, Waypoints and POI/Fly around. ;)

lol ok. I've only scratched the surface of the modes on these apps. Just mainly take pictures, and one mission in Litchi. The technology in these are at times unbelievable in what they can do.

I need to get a sun shield so I can try the different modes. At the moment I cant see a thing on the screen when I go out :(

I've still to try Litchi but I'm hanging off until I finally decide what tablet I'm going to go for - no point having to shell out twice for the app itself depending on whether I plump for an iOS or Android based solution. Currently my little Hudl 2 is doing a reasonable job. :)

Agree on the tech that the Phantoms pack in, phenomenal bang per buck it has to be said. And with the Phantom 5 on the horizon, the knock on effect on P3 Advanced/Pro and P4's will make them even more affordable.

Cars board box will suffice for the interim mate

Gents, loved my little Syma that I learned to fly with but it hardly gets looked at these days now I have the P3 so I'm looking to put it up for sale. But I have no idea how much it is all worth as a package. It would be an ideal intro into flying quads for someone as it comes with everything you could need including a ton of spares. Would anyone care to suggest what price to sell this all for? List of contents below:-

Syma X8C - 5 months old, excellent condition.
DJI Phantom extended legs with carbon fibre skids.
6 x 2S Lipo batteries including an extended flight time ZoP Power 35C.
All the spares you might need like extra motors, 4 of which are uprated Nite Lion Tech's.
Loads of spare blades, spare prop lock collets, washers and pins. Spare gear cogs.
OEM charger plus a cracking little Prophet Sport Lipo balance charger, original box too. Balance plug splitter leads.
Phantom digital countdown timer and tablet/phone mount.
2 x digital low voltage alarms.
Carbon/alloy prop balancer.
Carbon anti vibration camera gimbal.
Original box with instruction manual.

I've been wanting a phantom for ages but never quite pressed the button.

A phantom 4 came up through a guy at work and I couldn't resist. How much fun are these! I wish i'd got one sooner, so much better to fly than the little ones. The follow me stuff is fun and sports mode is a blast.
It ticks the model flying box and the landscape photography side of me. Very happy.

Just finished my new build. vortex 250 pro with stage 1 race kit. white pimp kit. custom frame mods from sweden. Dys 2205/2300 motors. and Connex Prosight full hd kit installed inside. this thing goes like stink. love the hd downlink. record on a avermedia game live portable in 720p no go pro needed ;)

In post didn't post.

Can you elaborate on the HD link please bud?

It's a full digital HD 720p downlink to my headplay goggles. Normal 5.8ghz is analogue signal. I get no crossover can fly anytime I want. So people in club won't effect me. Just google Connex prosight. Or YouTube.

Syma x8c? Jjrc h11c?

There is another one that lots of people get but I can for the life of me think what it is....

Edit: hubsan x4

The Syma X5 is a pretty good beginner quad too and slightly less expensive than the X8. :)

Thanks for the replies.

I pulled the trigger on an X5 from Amazon (just because it was cheaper and I don't want to invest too much too early), with bunch of spare batteries and charger (there was a promo). It'll be delivered today and I was looking forward to surprising the boys with it - but the wife has decided we're going to Speke Hall today, so we're going to miss the delivery. :(

I keep getting close on a phantom 3 standard or advanced but it's a lot to fork out considering I'm quite a novice flyer only using my syma atm
