Multiscreen setup at different resolutions

Hello. I am looking at setting up a gaming PC and ideally (for cost and space purposes) would like a 3 screen setup that involves two 1600x1200 monitors on the outside of a 1920x1200 monitor. Can somebody confirm for me that neither Eyefinity nor an NVidia SLI setup would allow me to do this at the native resolutions? There seem to be some YouTube videos that show this but the vendors appear to state that this is not possible.

Thanks!

Last I checked (and this was when Eyefinity had just come out) all 3 monitors need to run at the same resolution. I guess that would mean you could run all 3 screens at 1600x1200 but the middle screen would be stretched horizontally and would look distracting.

Back then I had a 1920x1200 screen in the centre and a 1600x1200 to the right - I never got round to getting the 3rd screen and 2nd gfx card to complete the setup! I used this http://www.kegetys.net/SoftTH/ which *does* let you run different res and aspect ratio on all 3 screens - downsides being you need 2 Gfx cards and can't take advantages of SLI etc and so end up asking one card to do all the work.

It's a real shame the features of SoftTH aren't offered by either nvidia or ATI as that would be perfect. Using SoftTH I used to run the centre screen at full 1920x1200 but the side at 1024x768 as being in your peripheral vision you don't notice the lower res and it really improves frame rate.

Thanks for your reply. I contacted both ATI and NVidia to confirm that I cannot do this. I'll check out SoftTH whilst I save up for some screens! :(

Well if you don't mind only gaming on the main screen you can still set the other two monitors in extended mode with difference resolutions.

Not that I know of...

I wish I could run a mixed-res 3-screen setup... Running the central screen at 2560*1600 and the side panels at 1280*800 would be awesome - only 50% more pixels than a single screen, yet and still the same effect. I don't see it happening in the near future though.
