Murray in Form

So he won Queens??..does this mean that the british media frenzy of him winning Wimbledon will start in earnest??

Of course ! Its the British way !

Anytime we do well at anything we suddenly go all OTT and start declaring that we will win everything from now on. Its already happening in the media for the World Cup next year..and all because we win against Kazhakstan, Andorra and Belarus.

He did great at Queens and played well, but he was also the only player in the world top 5 who was in the tournament. A little like Liverpool winning the league if Chelsea and Utd werent in it. Have to take the win in that context.

Federer is still the man for me, tired or not..he has the chance at Wimbledon to break the record for slam titles and he will try his utmost to do that. Beating a Federer who isnt trying his best is hard enough...beating one who is will prove exceptionally difficult. Will still be a massive crowd at Murray Mound, or Henman Hill, or Gordons Grass or Peters Patchygreenbit or whatever we are calling it this time round.

I agree, and I think Fed will be back and reinvigorated after the French win, he has been lacking in confidence for a while now, I believe winning the French is what he needed. Murray has a very decent shot at it the way he has been playing the whole season.

True very true...lets not forget England beating India in the 20/20 world cup..already they are saying that England will win the WC:p...slight problem there...SA and a few other teams that could easily push England off their little pedestal.

As for Fed??..my money is on him to win Wimbledon this yr...that french open victory has probably given him the tonic he needs as hes been below par since losing to Nadal last yr but im glad to see him back to his best and i hope he wins it again this yr.

I think you'll find having just watched the French open and then Queens that im not a "once a year Wimbledon watcher" as you put it, Henman won nothing, and failed at what should have been his best event Wimbledon usually in the quarter final stages. You're trying to tell me thats success? You obviously have very low standards :p

So you watch a fair bit of tennis and still know nothing about it?

Happy for the guy, didn't look so hot last year but he's stepped up his game at the same time Nadal and Fed are having a few problems, his timing has been good and it'd be nice to see him win Wimbledom, seems like an alright (if not slightly boring) guy.

Im English so support the English. Im not in to this whole British thing.

So because you're not into the whole British thing, then you don't believe that anyone else is?

I was born in Scotland and I've spent my whole life here.

I don't deny that if Scotland are playing against England then I am 100% behind Scotland, but the myth that all Scots are completely anti-english is far from true. Sure there are some people here who will support whoever is playing against England, and there are are a lot more who don't actually care enough either way when Scotland aren't involved, and just enjoy a bit of banter about not wanting England to win. Personally, I usually find myself supporting England, whenever Scotland aren't directly involved.

The anti-england card is very much exaggerated. Sometime I wonder if the English like to play it all the time, just to give them an excuse to hate the Scots ;)

That guy was being quite petty anyway, I much prefer the idea of not being bitter about pointless things, seems the same with you, better to leave people like him alone as he'll never understand where you're coming from

You see that's why I like him. He has a nice way about him, a gentleman, and a graceful player. Diverse and concentrates and modifies his game to suit his opponent. He's not the most powerful or the fastest round the court, but he's by far once of the best all round players. He reminds me of Sampras in terms of style of play and gentlemanly way about him. He's just focused on the game rather than showboats.

True. He is the Schumacher of tennis :)

Cor, what do you do at the Olympics? Stop cheering when it's a Scot? Man, a mixed relay team would really tear at you wouldn't it.

Also, there was quite a good article in defence of him in the Times today. They basically pointed out that he was a teenager when he was at his petulant, stroppy best. Kids act like ****, it happens. He's grown up now.
