Hi fellow Muse fans.

I'm not sure how I missed this, but a month ago Muse announced that they've remixed remastered OOS for it's 20th anniversary. They released a couple of tracks on to YouTube early to pump some hype, but now they've dropped it all on there: https://youtube.com/c/muse

Some of the changes are subtle, making it hard to pin down exactly why they sound different, but some are more obvious, which I think will likely be somewhat jarring to those who are used to the originals.

Awkward title aside, what do you think about this remix? I feel fully 13 years old again and that's really very fine with me.

Oh and paging @Nitefly

I'm confused is this actually a remix or a remaster? I listened to New Born and it's the same pretty much. I don't like that they've removed matt's breaths though, it makes the whole thing sound a bit too clean.

Yeah it's definitely a remaster, the title is misleading.

A lot of the difference is only noticeable when you're listening in stereo by the way, unsure if this is obvious to many but I first had a quick compare on my phone and the changes weren't at all noticeable.

Goes to show, I don't really know the difference

I'd considered a remaster to be a higher quality/tidied up version, and a remix to be a significant departure from the original source material's overall tone. I understand that remix means literally to mix it again differently, but outside of actual music officionado circles (as in, to me :p) normally it means to mix it with another style/genre and provide a new take on it, not just change the L/R balance, the volume on certain elements, and remove/slightly change existing instruments. Tell me I'm on glue Nitefly. My body is ready.
