Thanks to a very kind OCUK, I am now free from the dirty Crucial Ballistix RMA wagon and now own a brand new set of these Mushkin XP4000 Extreme Black 2x1gb. I simply could not justify the cost of the Redlines despite them looking awesome.
Now, I am now a bit wary of pumping volts through them and upping the FSB until it is unstable, incase I damage these. Stability means a lot to me with RAM I have learnt. I was just wondering what everyone elses experience with these are so far. I have an Ultra-D DFI mobo and Im just mem testing at stock and seem fine so far. Looking to see what mhz and timings people have got to with these. Do they run as hot as the Crucial Ballistix did and require active cooling when clocked? Is lower voltage better and give more stability? What timings etc.

All discussion welcome.

Does anyone have this RAM? I have started testing and they dont seem to want to overclock at all right now.

@ stock: 250mhz / 3-4-3-8 / 2.8 volts
- Pass mem test
- Pass super PI 32m test

@ 260mhz / 3-4-3-8 / 2.8 volts
- Mem test errors
- Super PI errors

@ 260mhz / 3-4-3-8 / 2.7 volts
- mem test errors
- Super PI errors

@ 260mhz / 3-4-3-8 / 2.9 volts
- mem test errors
- Super PI passes

@ 260mhz / 3-4-3-8 / 3.0 volts
- Mem test errors
- Super PI passes

And thats all I have had time to test. I guess the next step is to try slackening the timings to something like 3-4-4-8 ?

OK I have found out some more info for anyone with this ram. Its actually hard to find info on them as when you perform searches the majority that comes up is stuff about the Mushkin Redlines. I have found that most people habe managed to get these up to 257mhz @ 3-4-3-8 but if you slacken to 3-4-4-8 as I expected, these will go up to around a max of 270mhz. Also, found that people have reported that this ram loves very low voltages which is confusing as Mushkin state they run at 2.8 volts. This might mean max though.
If you try to aim to keep voltage at 2.6 or 2.7, then these will run well. Have not found out what the lowest timings people have got with these, but obviously lower than stock means they are unlikely to run at DDR500 with stability.
