Mushy ketboard and mouse response

In the last week my keyboard and mouse have become mushy in response.

Also, Internet explorer is slow starting up.

Any idea where I can start looking for the problem with this? I cannot think of anything outstanding I have done to change the software set-up. I have neither added any new drivers/software or uninstalled anything so I am a bit flummoxed as to what the problem is.

Spec looks fine, so not an issue there.

Have you tried running some clean up programs like CCleaner to clear up some old temp files that could cause a slow down? Might be worth running Malwarebytes to check for some rogue processes/virus that may be the cause,

Is chrome or firefox also slow when loading up?
Does the keyboard act the same in a different USB slot? - Any driver updates been released?

Anything else seeing slowdown symptoms?

See if there's any tasks running in the background eating up the CPU or memory, it's ctrl+alt+delete -> task manager in Win8.1, not sure about Win 7.
