Hi,

Whenever a track starts to play in iTunes, WMP or Media Center my PC grinds down to a halt for a few seconds.

I used to have the same problem when I was running XP, its one of the reason I upgraded at all, but now its back.

Specs:
AMD 3800+ (AM2)
2gb of Geil ram (DDR2)
MSI K9N SLI Platinum
nVidia 7600GT

Any ideas? Thanks in advance, as per usual. :)

Edit: Winamp isn't a fix, foobar might be. ;)

Do you just run through the on-board sound, or do you have a soundcard? Have you tried perhaps updating the chipset drivers mate? Or disabling any un-needed stuff in the BIOS, such as Serial Ports, Firewire, etc incase it's an IRQ problem. :)

If you turn down audio acceleration (via dxdiag) does the problem go away?

Do you experience similar problems while outputting sound thru other apps (eg - gaming) ?

Nope, only when a track changes/starts, about 10 seconds in.

Firegod, thankyou, I'll give that a go, and yes, I am using the onboard sound.

Edit: And for some reason it only does it on some tracks... Some tracks are more effected than others aswell..

So, looks to be either file related, or onboard sound related?

I do have a Philips soundcard in the draw, but no Vista drivers
