hi,

at work we have a radio that plays through speaks in the store, and we can put cds on and what have you

but obviously they cant have swearing in them, so i was just wondering if anyone knew any software that i could use to blank out the swearing in songs

any help is much appreciated :)

All the beeps you hear on the radio have been manually put in before playing them.
It would be a miracle software if it could beep on command.

yeh.. you could always sit there and put in all the beeps urself!!! that or some albums have censored versions available to buy :p

Adding beeps into the track may by illegal because your modifying the music which is copyrighted.

Though you could easily tell a computer to beep at certain points in a track.

i ment i software that i could just like blank the vocals..... i will do it... i know theres no software that will do it automatically

It may be possible to get a program that blocks automatically if you can get lyric sheets with the correct timings on and it uses wmp to tell what song its playing.

Another solution is to simply use a program that beeps at certain set intervals, you make a playlist then set the intervals it has to beep at so it correctly beeps at all the right places in the songs on the playlist.

Unless of course you're joking, this is incorrect. Realtime or near-realtime censoring hardware exists, but it's expensive and reserved for the likes of broadcasters. It's not 100% reliable either.

FYI - the likes of Big Brother use a short digital delay and manual intervention.

Any decent audio editor (e.g. Audacity) will let you put beeps in, but as said, I'm not sure where that stands from a copyright perspective. It's also very time-consuming.

(Yes, I have had to censor both video and audio to make it safe for OcUK - no names will be forthcoming)

So you're telling me that the BBC can play a record and as the singer says the word ****, it will magically beep?
There has got to be some manual intervention somewhere from an engineer.
The magic machine would not be quick enough to recognise the swear word and then magically beep it when it had already been said.
However, I'd love to be proved wrong.

I could easily imagine it being done if there is a one second delay on it, computer recognises what is being said by the frequency used and instantly beeps it out.
