Music Creation Packages

Hi.

I want to get into making some music via my PC.
Firstly what package should I look into, and what (basic) hardware would I need to pull it off.

I've been looking at Wiki and it suggests packages that use VSTi and from what I read the hardware controls the virtual instrument.

Any thoughs/web sites to check out?
Thanks.

theres too much different software too just single one out

not many people stick to the one piece of software either and use many different one just to make one track

also might depends on what sort of music you want to make

personally i like ableton live but this is something you need to try the trials of and decide for yourself.

you can use VST plugins with most the apps

for trials to try id say

ableton live
fruityloops
reason 3
logic
sonys acid pro

for hardware id say dont bother till you know your going to get into it , id just get a cheap midi keyboard for playing software instruments etc .

need to look into it all allot more myself to be honest so am no expert

I second Ableton Live; download the demo, run through the tutorials and see if it's inspiring or not.

You don't even need any hardware with Live, as you can use your pc keyboard as a simple piano keyboard. Very handy for appraisal purposes :)
