music on pc to echo dot/hifi?

hi guys,

ok so i got an echo dot and attached it to my hifi and was hoping i could use it to play music stored on my pc.

Since it can connect to bluetooth can i simply get a bluetooth adapter for my pc and then get the dot to connect?

Another way is to use My Media for Alexa.
Run a basic music server on a PC/Raspberry Pi and then play music on any echo.

yeah i saw mymedia but don't really want a subscription to anything, and pi stuff is a bit too complicated for me!

If you have a Synology NAS you can play all your music whats on the NAS via the echo

This is what i do for music to my Alexa in the Kitchen for the music i cannot get on spotify. I use a pi3 plus Digi plus which is connected to my Dali via optical and Logitech Squeezbox server on the NAS and PICOREPLAYER on the PI and a squeeze app on my tablet to control my music and it works very well. My next step is to get another echo for kitchen with a Echo Sub for 2.1 in the kitchen but its very early stages and reviews seem little negative at min

It's a one off cost for MyMedia (I think it was less than a fiver when I bought it). If you are keeping your music on your PC, you can use that to host MyMedia, so no need for a separate raspberry Pi or anything.

only one off? i thought it was a continuing subcription - i will check it out.
