Right,

well I have loads of ahem downloaded albums and they are a mess really, tracks named terribly and all a mess, I was wondering if there was a way to easy sort this out without going through each song one by one...

because of this mess, WMP is all a mess with songs n what

I doubt there would be software that could do this all in one, but maybe separate programs, I wouldnt no ??

I know I have seen something similiar before

it would need to be free aswell

Any suggestions guys ?

Media Monkey is pretty good at sorting stuff out. I used it to re-tag a bunch of stuff not long ago. You can search for the albums and then automatically tag it with all the info that comes up. Does artwork too.

I used Media Monkey over the summer when I re-ripped my CD collection. It isn't perfect but was quite adequate. The Godfather is well thought of here I think and perhaps I would have spent less time re-ripping my music if I'd used The Godfather. It seems more powerful and easier to carry out tricky little time-wasting tasks.

MusicBrainz Picard is good as mentioned

It will search and (hopefully) recognsie all your albums - you just then confirm which album is which via their site and it renames them all for you.

Music Brainz PicartQT (the picardQT is VERY important) is probably the best peice of software i've ever come accross when it comes to automatic managment. It sorted ALL my huge complicated music library out over the course of a weekend on and off, and i know it would have taken weeksn manually!
