I'm after some kind of music player to give to the kids in the car so they can listen to their own music. They're only 2 and 5, so it needs to be a really simple device (on/off and a skip button ideally). Anything with more buttons they'd just get lost in the settings menu and end up wiping it.

I've found/thought of a few solutions, but written them off for various reasons:

- Mighty vibe - Very expensive, and would require upgrading from Spotify Premium to Family
- Sansa Clip Jam - Reasonable priced, but still a few too many buttons
- Toniebox - expensive, and very limited music choice (at further expense)
- Use an old phone and install Spotify - The app is too complex
- Use an old phone and install Spotify Kids - The app gets bad reviews and would also require upgrading from Spotify Premium to Family

Any other suggestions? I think what I really want is to go back in time 10 years and grab a couple of ipod shuffles, but they seem to have died a death :-(/

Considering kids can use phones and tablets and TV remotes from a young age, I think you might be under estimating their ability.

Mine didn't like the shuffle. The most used players we had were the Sony Walkman MP3 players. Then phones.

Hardest thing I found was they all handle tags differently and most don't have a proper sleep function. (turn off after x mins etc).

Still use the Walkman now and then for the audio books on them which are great on long journeys.

Tried a few of the cheap chinese ones and no one really liked them.

What app do you use to play the music? I use Pulsar. No idea how young the kids are. Mine are much older now, so using Streaming Services. They've no idea what a MP3 is.
