i'm after a music player to use in ubuntu and the ones i've tried so far haven't quite hit the spot.....

amarok is quite nice but it doesn't seem to support cue sheets properly. i need a player than can load the cue sheet and let me select tracks like it were a normal album. also the cursor not following where i highlight is bad. i see there is a queue manager but i don't want anything that complicated. i just want to have a track playing, highlight another track in the playlist and have it play that track next, not the one after the currently playing... :p

xmms sucks. not much else to say really.... :p

i've tried running foobar in wine and it works well enough. but the sound skips under even the slightest load such as opening/closing other apps. if this could work without the skipping i'd be well happy.

is there a fix for my gripes with amarok or another better player out there. thanks. :)

i forgot to mention i've already tried songbird. it didn't read my files properly. a lot of the tags were missing even though all my files are perfectly tagged. :(

will give banshee a shot. cheers. :)

edit: nope no joy. no cue sheet support and it has no option to follow the cursor. :o

well about a dozen players later and i'm still stumped. so i give up and go back to amarok because it has some nice features..... then i accidentally discover it's cue support hidden away. so i'm now a happy bunny. :D

I think I tried almost Every Music Player out there...

Most of em wouldn't pick up haf of my collection!... I've 6400 (stored under my Windows Partition) Files and the most some would pick up was 4000ish

I even tried Songbird (don't usually like Beta let alone alpha software!!).. it loaded once... now it just wont load at all!!...

Settled on Amrock too... seems a good speced player!... sort of customisable (I'm a Foobar/Winamp fan!!) not had any problems yet!!!... Picks up my entire collection and updates nicely, and the equaliser's not bad!!

Have a look on the Ubuntu Forums for Non-Oficial Repositries... Can't remember which I installed (I'm on 64bit v7.04) http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=196093
Dunno if there's a 32bit Version!!...

But I you can find - Exhale, its a Gnome Version of Amrock (made for KDE) I've got it playing now!!... I'm also gonna try 'Listen' which I've heard is quite a good Player!!

Sim :)
