Hi can you please give me an idea of the best kit to buy for my Music studio build? thanks

I have a pci sound card, someone told me that it would still fit/work in todays new motherboards, I don't no if this is true?

I just bought a Samsung 256GB SSD 830 Desktop Series SATA 6Gb, for my main drive, & want a 2tb for storage,

I have bought my own copy of windows 7

I have 2x 22" Asus 1080 hdmi monitors

I use a lot of Vst so need a lot of ram, was thinking 16gb

I do a small bit of video editing,

I would like the pc to be quiet & to not give out a lot of heat, as my room is warm enough

should I look in to one of them gaming bundels i5 or i7

Im looking at a full tower Akasa Venom Toxic Full Tower Gaming Casehttp://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-050-AK

I need a graphics card that can run 2 monitors that i already have, I'm not big in to gaming so it don't need to be the best

I Would like to keep the build around £600

this is my first post,

Thank you all

Just to add. 8GB should be fine unless you are running LOADS of VSTs at once, you are not really going to hit the limit with RAM. Even if you do, just bounce the tracks down.

Thanks you mickyflinn for your post,

I like the power supply with the wires you use what you need! Very cool!

I was thinking of adding an extra £100 to the budget to get the best out of it, maybe better ram,

If you were buying this would you get it overclocked

is it better to buy an overclocked bundel or build your own?

Im sorry for asking so many questions

Thanks

Thanks for your reply Tobes,

I no what you mean 8gb is fine, but if it was only £33 extra to get 16gb is it not better to get it???

I want to get the best machine i can, thats why im asking you guys, what would you get if you were me? for £700

Thanks again

It would be great but I don't think you would ever hit the wall to notice the difference. I personally would put that £33 towards some more music gear. But if you are not hitting the budget and don't really have anything to buy then go for it. :D

You will find that unless you are doing a lot of processing in a DAW your CPU is going to be pretty idle most of the time. Only on playback with a load of effects racks are you going to see some usage. So heat shouldn't be a issue. You could easily get away with a stock heatsink and fan but I would suggest buying something a bit better. Liquid CPU cooler might be a bit of overkill. Your using onboard graphics with the setup listed, I'm not sure if this uses any of the boards CPU processing... someone will know more on this.

Yeah I was going to suggest getting one anyway just to keep everything separate. You might find that some plugins have some fancy graphics such as Native Instruments Razor and if a £60 card is going to help free up your CPU then it's worth it.

Hi Phil, this is what i would sugest if you add another £100 to your budget but i have dropped the ram to 8gb

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £184.99

With that graphics card you will be able to play most games at high res and the Alpenföhn Matterhorn cooler is awsome.

You could maybe change your case to save a few pounds , may i suggest the corsair carbide 500r but go and browse them all.
