Music that stops everything...

Yes! Awesome, someone else who loves Frusciante! :D

What's your favourite album/EP?

Very close between Shadows and Curtains, although I listen to Shadows Collide with People the most though. Got a thing for Niandra as well.

As for EP, DC EP is great!

You?

Got to agree with the Pink Floyd ones in here and also John Frusciante. I've fell asleep out my face in my mates loft, in the dark, with Floyd and Frusciante int he background and it felt perfect at times. Could almost visualize the sounds he creates as things...epic.

That entire album is just mind blowingly good. Night time, volume up loud with headphones and I'm in a completely different place. He's amazing.

i am a huge zep fan they were even better live!

I came back from my first Zeppelin concert in 1971 and told my Dad they didn't know their own songs.
I saw them twice in 1975 and they were a bit better but still not great.
At Knebworth in 1979 they were pretty poor trying to create their own material.
In fact I have loads of bootlegs and Zeppelin were basically very poor live and very rarely were on fire.
Let's face it whan most Zep songs had loads of guitars on them, the closest they were ever going to get was when Jimmy Page played with the Black Crowes and they had 3 guitars, bass & keyboards all going at the same time.

stairway is briliant but for me it isnt their best track

To incite the wrath of just about every Zepplin fan, I never understood the prestige of Black Dog. That riff does nothing for me and if anything, just sounds annoying.

its called improvising

sometimes they were cack in later years due to heroin etc especially jimmy also plants voice was often poor after a throat op in 73 screwed it
but when they were on it (and they often were) they were utterly without equal and i include great live bands like the who and cream in that.
the few bands that played with them early on openly admitted they got totally blown off stage by zep. very quickly they toured alone often doing 3hour+ sets night after night

zep had a lot of bloody good songs and riffs too

track 1 side 1 album 1

I was there when it happened and had all the major bootlegs in the early/mid 70s (all on green & blue vinyl for some reason).
They were all very hard to listen to and not just because of poor recordings.
And watching them live 4 times was magical but I have to be honest.
My second greatest band were all over the place also during live concerts - Deep Purple.
Sometimes magical, sometimes awful.

Probably not popular choices but they do it for me...

1. The Music - Getaway
Epic tune. Ultimate indie club floorfiller. Especially love the middle eight into the first chorus. Gets me stopping and turning it up every time.

2. Delays - You and Me
Aaron Gilbert sings like an angel and this showcases his vocal range to good effect. A fabulous, breathless track.

3. Manics - Motorcycle Emptiness
No explanation really needed. An epic track from a brilliant band. Good live version too!

a lot of people probably wont agree with me but by far the song that does this to me the most is :
Just a truly amazing and epic piece of music. I urge everyone to watch it...the chorus at 07:30 just blows me away.

Occasionally, when I'm about to pop off to bed, I'll just have a quick listen to some music, I end up going through my whole music library re-discovering songs I love but haven't listened to for ages. Needless to say I don't get to bed for some time.
