Music while in game...

Okay the problem i have is that while playing a game if i try to play music at the same time it just seems to play it at like 1.5x speed and sounds really awful.
I'm using an x-fi and have a feeling this is the problem as my old audigy 2 was fine for this.
Any ideas or comments much appreciated

well after fiddling it would seem that media source player works a treat with a game going; but as you said winamp would be the obvious choice so i will try that as it is the least cpu intensive
