Right so my one week stay in Amsterdam mid Feb is now booked!

My plan is to fill my day by going and visiting the museums and places etc that Amsterdam has to offer. Then partying will be done when the sun goes down. :p

So what do you think are the must see/things in Amsterdam?

What about visting other things outside of Amsterdam? Is it possible to get about via public transport?

From my week in Amsterdam I don't think I actually accomplished anything, but the Anne Frank place is supposed to be good, and make sure you have a wander round the red light, it's hilarious. Sex museum is supposed to be good, some nice parks to sit in, get a bike! I tried a tandem but the streets are rather precarious if you aren't used to one, so perhaps a normal bike.

Body World is a an absolute must in my opinion, it's one of the most interesting things I have ever seen. The torture museum was quite good as well.

rijksmuseum and all the pastry shops

Some obscure things require appointments to see or only happen on certain days.

The river tour looks OK

Depends what you're into.

Personally avoid the 'The Rijksmuseum', found it very boring, and a massive place to walk around which takes a good chunk of time.

Central Library is worth a walk to, and then to the top for the views. The building itself is pretty impressive.

Vondelpark was nice for a walk

Sex museum for the laughs!

Red Light district at night is a must, it's quite an experience!

Sex museum is a must and its so cheap
Coffee shop
Boat trip, again these are very cheap
A wander down the red light is a real eye opener, go at night its a crazy place.

Food can be expensive but if you look around you will be ok, i had a double jamesons and a glass of white wine and it came to nearly 20 euros in an irish bar!
