As the thread title really. Off for two weeks in Egypt and am looking for some games to take over with me. Been out of touch with games for a few months so no doubt have missed some really good games.

Got most of the usual suspects on the DS (Mario Kart, 42 all time classics, new super mario) and on the PSP (Tekken, Pro Evo, Tony Hawk)

Any recommendations for 'must have' games?

For the DS:

Hotel Dusk: Room 215
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence (aka the first one)
Trauma Center
Brain Training is fun to kill some time.
Mario 64 DS is very good too.

There are more really good DS games, but thats the few i can think of now.

one of the burnout games
metal gear solid portable ops
killzone

for osme reaosn i found myself rather addicted too sid meris pirates :o

MGS portable ops, if you like football then FM2007 for psp would be very good to kill some time. Syphon Filter is awesome on the PSP. Also older games like Wipeout, and dont forget Lumines, the most addictive game on the system.

Well only had my DS a few weeks now but Hotel Dusk is great, a little slow and dialogue heavy but a great story and graphically superb. Also playing (the shame of it!) Animal Crossing, but you'll a) have this already and b) be far too mature for it ;)

Another one worth looking out for is Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlord. I have it on order (for £15) after it got awarded 'The Best DS Game' by Game magazine (9/10) and a lot of plaudits from 1UP, Gamespot, Eurogamer etc. Check it out, it sounds like it's well worth looking out for. (Also available on PSP).

DS

Phoenix Wright
Hotel dusk
Sonic Riush
Yoshi isalnd
StarFox
Truma center (very hard game tho)
Advance Wars

I dont own these game but ive heard good things about them.

Final fantasy 3
Brothers in arms
Animal Crossing

PSP

Ace Combat
Metal gear solid, portible ops.
Tales of Eternia

For the the DS

Phoenix Wright
Lunar Knights
Micro Machines V4
Hotel Dusk

These would definitly keep you entertained for quite a while IMO especially as you have mario cart and new mario bros

Killzone Liberation, MGS: PO, Ratchet and clank: size matters, Lumines, SOCOM; FTB 1 or 2. The GTA's

Tetris DS is great, especially with online multiplayer.
Meteos is a good Tetris-esque game with stylus control, though it is a bit hard at first - one review I read said that the difficulty varies between hard and ludicrous!
Advance Wars is good if you like turn based strategy.
Canvas Curse is great for a stylus controlled game - it feels really natural.

Zelda: The Minish Cap is a great GBA game as well.

I'm a right saddo at the moment, working through Pokemon Diamond lol. Quality game though. Also bought Final Fantasy 3 although not sure on that yet.

DS games I have that are good are brain training, metroid, mario bros, tetris (mp fun), and Kirby paintbrush (excellent). The Mario Bros RPG is good too but it's only good for a once through.

of course, pokemon never changes :D

what games are you into?

i think meteos would be perfect, simple addictive puzzle game that you can have a quick go on whenever, which would suit a holiday :D

Final Fantasy 3 DS

Top game.
Agreed. Fantastic.

I find Hotel Dusk is the biggest pile of crud I've played in a while.....just endless boring conversations while you're just sat there clicking trying to move the conversation on so you can actually DO SOMETHING.

well for the DS,

its picross and one of the two pokemon games (i imported pearl, and on july 27th ill be buying diamond)

and for the PSP, it has to be rainbow 6 vegas and hotpixel. oh, and GTA vice city

Street Fighter Alpha 3, its the first fighter game i enjoyed since the release of street fighter II world warrior on the snes, and if you love the street fighter series, you will love this.

also diddy kong racing for the DS is a good game, never completed it when i was a kid.

is that new pokemon game similar to the old ones? Like silver and gold but with better graphics?

I don't think it's any different to any of the other ones. It's funny, they don't even make an effort to change anything. The locations, people, and story are pretty much the same in each one. It's addictive as hell though, depressingly enough. Not played FF3 yet because I think two games that involve levelling up like crazy may kill me.

I forgot Mario Kart, pretty good.
