Every administrator has tools to do the job - everything from opening archived files to administrating a corporate network.
So what are your must have tools to do your day to day job - they can be freeware/shareware or full price applications an explanation of what they do as well would be good.
Mine:
Full Price
ERD Commander - basically Windows on a CD you can copy files over a network for dead operating systems, reset Windows admin passwords, etc.
Ghost - just to build a PC really quickly - lots of alternatives out there but this is the one I use.
Nero - I've used this for god knows how many years now and still do - a testament to a good program I guess - works very well and handles everything I need to do in one package
VMWare - when you need to test and want to destroy stuff this is the environment to do it - create a virtual pc running on your current operating system - really nice
Free/Share Ware
Net Tools 4 - lots of interesting little tools run from one central GUI - pretty much everything you can think of.
WinACE - again lots of alternatives but this handles nigh on every archive I can think of and quickly.
Trillian - I use that many messengers its untrue - easier to keep them all under one roof
mIRC - excellent tool to chat to people you didn't know existed
