I would like to run 3 monitors on a new rig and am wanting to check a solution.

I am thinking of buying a GTX580, obviously this takes care of 2 monitors. Is it possible to stick some cheap GFX card in to take care of the 3rd?

I will only ever game on the 1 monitor. However I work from home and would like 3 for that.

I know eyefinity would take care of it in a single card, but I wanted to stick with NVIDIA and the GTX580 for gaming.

Thanks!

If it has a display port and 2 dvi ports you should be able to get away with using a display port > HDMI adapter then use either a standard HDMI lead or a HDMI to DVI (Male at both ends) cable. In theory this should work but im unable to try it out yet as my new 570 is faulty, but hopefully i'll be able to try it soon. I do miss my triple monitor workspace :(

Yes Matt, as far as I'm aware that's fine.

I expect it keeps it simpler if you go for another Nvidia so you only have to use 1 set of drivers
