I installed MW2 on the parents PC over Christmas as my dad loves the COD games, but I ended up using my steam account, which is now causing a bit of a bother as I have recently got into Torchlight and when he then signs in to my account it signs me out.

Is there a way of authorizing MW2 on a different steam account on the same PC or are we now stuck with it as it is?

Can't you do the offline method? Where one of you is online and the other offline?

Nope your stuck, you could make your dad play offline but I assume he plays online mulitplayer >.< If torchlight is singleplayer and you don't mind not being connected then that will work, just connect every so often so steam can update stats etc to servers

Or you could just get your dad a steam account and MW2 :)

cheaper to give dad that account and just buy torchlight again :p

I might wait till MW2 is a lot cheaper and buy him a second copy then. Bloody crazy way of doing things really :(

Mw2 is bundled with a lot of ATI graphics cards these days and the code to download it gets sold lots, you might be able to get a cheap one.

Not possible.

Theres a few methods you could use.
You buy MW2 for your dad on a new account, which is stupidly expensive.
If Torchlight is your only other game, buy that again on another account.
Set yourself to offline mode so your dad signing in shouldn't matter.
Tell your dad to stop playing crap games and buy him something else on another account :p

Well I created another account as it's only the demo of Torchlight I've been playing as that's the only game in my steam list that will run on my ageing laptop. He can have my old account and I'll just use the new one.

Was going to get him BF:BC2 anyway when I realised it had a SP mode. If he went online he would killed every second :D

Didn't realise what steam cloud was till I got home and it continued from where I left off while playing it at work during lunch :D
